Hospitality and Outdoor- New Vacancy- Maintenance Manager

Luxury Game Reserve – Hluhluwe, KZN

(Only candidates with relevant hospitality maintenance experience will qualify so please read the specifications carefully)


Requirements

  • Grade 12 (essential)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar supervisory role at a luxury lodge and game reserve environment
  • Diploma or Degree in engineering or similar with any trade qualifications (electrical, plumbing, construction) beneficial
  • Excellent all-rounder (Electrical, Plumbing, Building, Airconditioning, carpentry)
  • Auto-mechanic skills will be beneficial- basic fixing of tractors and cars
  • Experience in basic Reserve Maintenance such as road maintenance, soil erosion plans, bush trimming etc
  • Sound knowledge of Farm maintenance- Boreholes, Electrical fencing, Solar systems for both pumps and electrics
  • Proven leadership skills- A strong team leader who is friendly and professional- will be managing maintenance for two lodges
  • MS Office Suite- Knowledge of Stock Control and Store systems
  • Keeping logbooks and administration up to date and organised- services, licenses, diesel usage etc.
  • HR knowledge- appraisals, disciplinaries etc
  • Hardworking, hands on individual with sober habits
  • Detail oriented and organised
  • Driver’s licence (essential)
  • Security background (especially in a game reserve environment) very beneficial


Description

  • Responsible for the overall Maintenance of lodge, and all other facilities, including the upkeep of buildings, fixtures, furniture and equipment, landscaping and gardens, and recreational facilities.
  • Ensure effective stock control procedures and methods are enforced and that the maintenance expense budget is achieved.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with company standards.
  • Ensure a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance Program for lodge and farm is implemented and that all essential equipment is serviced and maintained in a manner which prolongs the lifespan of all equipment.
  • Communicates with management and provides feedback on any issues or routine maintenance that needs to be scheduled that would interfere with guest satisfaction
  • Responsible for managing the maintenance team according to relevant laws and procedures.
  • Perform occasional other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
