We require a skilled, independent self-starter to manage our factory documentation, maintain our food safety system, and perform ad hoc functions to ensure smooth operations at our warehouse/factory. Efficiency, administrative and organisational skills, and a systems-driven approach are key. Are you a good system builder with a knowledge of FSSC 22000 implementation? - You are not comfortably working with clients in the wine, beer, or spirits manufacturing industry.
The opportunity:
This role consists of administrative and compliance-related tasks to support factory operations. An important function of your role will be to stay abreast of the latest regulations and adapt our procedures accordingly. You will draft product specifications and deliver product according to those specifications.
You will be appointed as our food safety team leader (FSSC 22000). You will lead a small team (two people). You will maintain the food safety database and lead our external audits. You will also be the key point of contact for Kosher, Halaal, and other certification bodies and regulatory stakeholders.
You will document production and other activities, perform inspections, and oversee all factory-related activities. It is critical that you implement systems to maintain precise record control. You will record data to feed into a traceability system which you will test periodically.
You will coordinate with various parties to ensure smooth exportation and delivery of our extracts.
The daily functionality of our factory and warehouse will depend on your ability to manage inventory and provide clear instructions and feedback. This includes communication with and instruction of suppliers and contractors, especially ensuring that all required documentation, agreements, and certifications are finalised and recorded prior to purchasing or commencement of work.
You will drive continuous improvement and embody food safety culture. All non-conformities and root cause analyses will be administered by you.
It is important that you can prepare presentable documents and communicate clearly and concisely.
Minimum Requirements:
- National diploma or certificate in food safety, manufacturing, chemistry, or any similar technical field (NON-NEGOTIABLE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT)
- Familiarity with HACCP principles, ISO9001, ISO22001, and/or FSSC22000
- Experience using spreadsheets and formulas (MS Excel)
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred (Advantageous):
- Previous experience in an admin-centric role in manufacturing.
- Prior involvement in food or beverage manufacturing, flavouring, colourant manufacturing, or alcoholic beverage manufacturing.
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency, particularly in Afrikaans or Spanish.
